We recently bought this book for our 15-month old and he loves it. The illustrations are lovely, the narrative is sweet and melodic, and it is short enough to be a book that holds his attention start to finish even when he is tired. A lovely find!

My daughter received this book for her first birthday. It is a favorite. The board book has substantial pages that are padded. She chews the corners, tosses it around, but it keeps its shape.
My daughter fell in love with this book the first time I read it. She insists that we read it before naptime and bedtime, and quite often first thing in the morning! She yawns by the time that we are halfway through and it has truly made bedtimes hassle free. This in combination with Goodnight Moon at bedtime ease us right into sleepy mode. Highly recommended!

I received this as a baby shower book and my son LOVES it! Gorgeous illustrations and a beautiful rhythm. All I have to say is “It’s time for bed little mouse, little mouse,” and my son gets a huge grin on his face. I definitely recommend this book!
This is one of his favorite two books. He laughs every time I turn the page and loves to point at the pictures. The amount of text per page is perfect for an eight month old’s attention.
We love Mem Fox’s work so when we were looking for a new book to add to my son’s collection, I settled on this, as a hardcover. At 3yo, he enjoys turning the pages himself, and has been treating it well. He LOVES the book. He quickly started chiming in, “It’s time for bed, little fish, little fish.” then I finish reading the page. He points to the beautiful illustrations. He asks for the book over other titles nearly every day we’ve had it. It’s adorable and calming to read with a little one in your lap. I HIGHLY recommend it for anyone.
I began reading this book to my daughter when she was six weeks old. Even at that young age, she responded to the soothing cadence. She is now four months old and this book lulls her right to sleep for naps and bed time. We both love it!
We love this book. My 20 month old daughter and I. We read it every night. It is the last book we read before nursing. It has nice ryhmes and the illustrations are beautiful too. Much nicer than any of the other going to sleep books. I highly recommend this book for small children to add to your nighttime ritual.
I keep a copy of this book for when the grandchildren come to spend the night. It is a wonderful bedtime story. Calm, sweet story making the end of a good day peaceful and perfect. The pictures are beautiful too.
My 2 year old son and I read this book every night before bedtime. As we’re reading, he points to the mommies, the stars, and the animals and he makes sure to tell me what noises the animals make. The beautiful illustrations complete the story. It’s one of our favorites and by the time we’re done reading it, his eyelids are drooping and sweet dreams are on the way. This is a real childhood keepsake in our house!
